Many teachers are afraid to teach the truths of our freedom from the law because they are concerned that people will have a license to sin.  I love what Bob George used to say before he left this earth for heaven.  “People don’t need a license to sin.  They do quite well without one.”  These truths truly set me free to live my life under grace, and to know the unconditional love of Jesus.  When a person knows their identity in Christ, they can be trusted with the truth.  Do some people misunderstand this teaching?  Sure.  Is God big enough to bring them back to the truth?  Absolutely.  He cares about our walk in this world even more than we do.  Because we are salt and light in this world.  The bottom line is found in Titus 2:12. “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age.”  Take a look at these verses in regards to the law:

Romans 7:4 – You were made to die to the law.

Romans 7:6 – You were released from the law.

Galatians 2:19 – You died to the law.

Romans 6:14 – You are not under law but under grace.

Galatians 5:18 – If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Galatians 3:25 – Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. (the law)

Romans 10:4 – Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.

Galatians 3:10 – Whoever is under the law is under a curse.

Galatians 3:12 – The law is not of faith.

Do I want to be under something that is not of faith?  Do I want to be under something that is a curse?  Do I want to be under something that God says I’m not under because Jesus fulfilled it?  We are free from the law and under God’s grace.  What is Grace?  It’s everything Jesus is.  Jesus is our grace.  Jesus forgave us of our sins freely.  He gave us a new life freely.  He gives us eternal life as a gift.  Grace means everything is free.  Everything you ever wanted from God is free.  Safety and security in Jesus is free.  Righteousness and holiness are free.  (From “The Grace Message with Andrew Farley’s podcast on April 26.)

There is nothing wrong with living from our true heart where Jesus resides.  You are not a dirty sinner with a wicked heart.  (Another teaching at another time.).   God’s word describes you as a saint who occasionally sins, but really doesn’t want to.  Get to know your new identity in Christ and then be yourself!  Romans 4:15 tells us that the law brings about wrath.  II Corinthians 3:6-9 tells us the law is the ministry of death and condemnation.   I Corinthians 15:56 tells us the power of sin is the law.  (Just tell me I can’t have a Snicker’s candy bar and watch me go buy one. LOL. But when I say, “What do I REALLY want?” I can have victory.”   Listen to Romans 8:2, “For the law of the Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.”  At the end of Jesus life he said, “It is finished.”  If you would like to know more about this topic, reach out to us.
